Travel Securely with Our Checklist.

Your Travel Checklist for Passenger Rights

Prepare optimally for your trip and protect your rights during flight delays, cancellations, or baggage issues – with our simple checklist.

01 Before the flight

Baggage

  • Take photos of the suitcase and its contents.
  • Do not pack valuables or insure them properly.

Information from your airline

Pay attention to your airline’s messages. Are there any cancellations or delays?

02 Getting to the airport

If your suitcase is lost or your train is delayed:

  • The journey also takes a lot of time. Especially if you have to change trains, you should allow enough time.
  • Allow sufficient time at the airport. You should arrive at least two hours before departure, or at least three hours for long-haul flights.
  • Luggage can also get lost on trains. Here’s what you should do if your luggage goes missing.

03 At the airport

Flight delay

  • Ask fellow travelers to act as witnesses
  • Confirm the reason for the delay
  • Take photos of the scoreboard
  • Keep all correspondence
  • Keep all receipts (food/drinks at the airport)
  • Note the arrival time (what time did the aircraft doors open at the arrival airport?)

Cancellation

  • When were you informed by the airline?
  • Keep all correspondence
  • Have you been offered a replacement flight?
  • Was the replacement flight acceptable to you? If not, you can book a flight yourself.
  • Request free cancellation of the original flight

Lost luggage

  • Keep the luggage labels safe
  • Report the loss within 7 days
  • Buy only what is necessary as a replacement

Boarding denied?

  • Get the refusal in writing
  • Ask fellow travelers to act as witnesses
  • Were you offered an acceptable alternative flight?

Ticket refund

  • Ask the airline to refund you at least fees and taxes
  • More compensation is available if the airline is responsible for the cancellation
  • Keep the correspondence and the invoice safe

04 After the flight

Make claims:

  • Use our sample letters to request the airline to reimburse your costs and flight compensation
  • A 14-day payment period is sufficient. If you are unsuccessful, I would be happy to assist you in asserting your rights!

File and track your claim anytime, anywhere.
